What this calculates

Rather than starting from a brand you already heard of, this works backwards from your constraints. It takes your available capital, the time you can personally put in, your tolerance for operational intensity and the outcome you want, and returns the franchise categories whose typical shape fits — then explains why each one fits, so you can argue with the reasoning.

What you will need

Capital you can actually deploy. Liquid capital you could lose, not net worth and not the maximum a lender might approve. Overstating this is the single most common way people match themselves into a category they cannot survive the first year of.

Hours you will personally work. An owner-operator model and a semi-absentee model are different businesses with different returns. Answer for the life you want in two years, not the enthusiasm you feel today.

What you want out of it. Income now, an asset to sell later, or a platform to build multiple units on. These pull towards different categories and often towards different brands within a category.

How to read the result

The categories are a shortlist to investigate, not a recommendation to buy. Two things are worth more than the ranking itself: the reasons given for each match, which tell you what the category demands of an owner, and the categories that did not appear. If something you were emotionally set on is absent, the constraint that excluded it is usually capital or hours — and that constraint will not go away because you like the brand.

Questions about this tool

Why does it suggest categories rather than specific brands?

Because brand availability is local and changes constantly. A category tells you what kind of business suits your capital and your hours; you then check which brands in that category are actually granting territory where you live.

Can I be matched if my capital is modest?

Yes. Lower capital narrows the category set rather than emptying it — service, mobile and home-based models generally carry lighter build-out than bricks-and-mortar food. What changes is which categories are realistic, not whether any are.

Does a match mean the brand will accept me?

No. Franchisors run their own selection, and territory availability, financial qualification and interview all still apply. The match tells you where to spend your search effort.

For reference only; not legal, tax, or investment advice. Results depend entirely on the figures you enter — check them against your own quotes and your franchise agreement before acting on them.
